Integrated WASH and Nutrition Program in Subang

The Integrated WASH and Nutrition Program I–VIII was a community empowerment initiative implemented by Yayasan Pembangunan Citra Insan Indonesia (YPCII) from 2017 to 2024 in Subang Regency, West Java. The program was carried out across 9 villages in Kasomalang District and 8 villages in Cisalak District, reaching a total of 83,000 beneficiaries.

The program was designed to improve community quality of life through an integrated approach combining Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives with community nutrition strengthening efforts. Program implementation was carried out progressively and sustainably by involving village communities, health cadres, schools, and various local stakeholders.

Improving Access to Safe Water

The program supported improved access to safe drinking water through the development and strengthening of clean water facilities in target villages. These facilities helped communities gain better access to proper water sources for household and daily health needs.

Waste Bank Development

Through community waste bank development, the program encouraged better and more sustainable household waste management. This initiative helped increase environmental awareness while also creating economic value through waste recycling activities.

Nutrition and Handwashing Education

The program also conducted education on balanced nutrition and healthy hygiene practices, including handwashing with soap campaigns. Educational activities were carried out through community outreach and family assistance programs to help prevent environmental-based diseases and improve public health.

Improving Adequate Sanitation

The development and improvement of proper sanitation access became an important component in supporting community health quality. The program contributed to creating healthier environments through improved sanitation facilities.

WASH in School

Strengthening WASH facilities in schools supported cleaner and healthier learning environments for children. The initiative also reinforced healthy living education from an early age through improved sanitation and hygiene facilities within school environments.

Nutrition Garden

The program developed nutrition gardens to support household food security and balanced nutritional intake. These gardens encouraged communities to utilize available land productively to support household food needs.

Maternal and Child Health Education

Maternal and child health education activities were conducted to improve public understanding regarding family health, child nutrition fulfillment, and the importance of early healthcare practices. Assistance was delivered through a community-based approach involving health volunteers and beneficiary families.

Through the Integrated WASH and Nutrition Program, YPCII sought to create sustainable healthy living behavior changes within communities. The initiative not only contributed to improved public health, but also strengthened environmental awareness, village sanitation quality, and community capacity in maintaining family well-being independently.
