Water and Sanitation for All Program
The Water and Sanitation for All (WASA) Program I–VII is a long-term initiative aimed at improving sustainable access to clean water and sanitation. Implemented from 2016 to February 2025, the program was carried out through a collaboration between PT Atlas Copco and Yayasan Pembangunan Citra Insan Indonesia (YPCII). The initiative was designed to address the growing need for safe, reliable, and sustainable drinking water services in rural communities across Pandeglang and Serang Regencies, Banten Province.
The program covered Sukaraja, Kupahandap, Pagerbatu, and Banjarnegara Villages in Pandeglang Regency, as well as Cisalam, Sukarena, and Ujungtebu Villages in Serang Regency. Key activities included the construction of water catchment facilities, reservoir development, installation of transmission and distribution pipelines, and household water connections equipped with water meters. These investments enabled communities to gain more reliable and safer access to clean water for daily household needs.
Pakuhaji Girang Hamlet was among the important locations benefiting from the program’s implementation. The initiative also focused on expanding access to safe drinking water in Pagerbatu Village and Banjarnegara Village, while strengthening community participation and local capacity to manage and maintain the water infrastructure for long-term sustainability.
Over nearly a decade of implementation, the Water and Sanitation for All Program successfully benefited 1,771 families, representing approximately 8,834 people, while also supporting clean water access for 245 Islamic boarding school communities (pesantren). Improved water access contributed not only to better public health outcomes but also to educational activities, household productivity, and overall community well-being. The program stands as a strong example of how collaboration between the private sector and community development organizations can create lasting and meaningful social impact.
